Need Help...? (cont'd)

 2) Screen or Menu Path

Every software program that you use has specific screens or menu paths that take you to different areas and features of the program. This information is extremely important to technical support as it assists them in locating the potential problem. It is also important to note the keystrokes or mouse clicks that you performed that created the problem so that the technical support representative can try to reproduce the error.

 3) Error Messages

- If a program error does occur, record the actual error message as it appears on screen. This information will assist the technical support representative in understanding what the problem is as well as assist the programmer with locating and correcting the problem within the program code itself.

 4) System or Network Environment

Be prepared to share a little information about the type of computer system and/or network you are running the program on. In the case of running in a network or multi-workstation environment, also take a moment to check with other users to see if they experienced any problems at about the same time. It may also be beneficial to note what program functions that other users were doing on the system at the same time. Often procedures such as backups, must be performed as exclusive operations and could cause messages to occur at other workstations.

 5) Faxing/Email

Faxing or emailing your problem are other methods of communicating with technical support. Including as much detail about the problem as possible, will allow the technical support team to research and possibly resolve the problem prior to responding to your inquiry.

Tech Tip

Did you know...?

You can have messages automatically printed on the bottom of Customer Account Statements, Invoices and Inventory Purchase Orders. Within, the Solid Business Central™ program, there are three sections that allow you to type a message of your choice. These are:

Statement Message

You can have a message print at the bottom of your customer statements. In fact, you can have a special message just for accounts past due. To prevent any messages appearing on the statement, simply leave the statement message screen blank. To create a statement message select 'System / Messages /Statement' and in the Regular Statement Message box enter in the text that you want to print on the statement.

Billing Message

You may include a message immediately to the left of the total lines of an invoice. This message can be changed at any time, or left blank. It can be up to three lines in length. This message is printed only on new and not reprinted bills. To create a Billing Message select 'System / Message / Billing' and type in your message.

Ordering Message

You may include a message immediately to the left of the total lines of a Purchase Order. This message can be changed at any time, or left blank. It can be up to three lines in length. This message is printed only on new and not reprinted transactions. To create an Order Message select 'System / Message / Order' and type in your message.
