Windows Vista and You

On January 30th, Microsoft made Windows Vista, the newest version of the company’s operating system, available to the general public. It has been five years since Microsoft last released a version of Windows, and many things have changed.

More Secure

A lot of problems many users had when using previous versions of Windows is that programs designed to infect your computer or to reveal personal information about you and your computer could easily be run because there was not enough security built into Windows to stop them. Windows now has technology built into it called User Account Control that will alert you to when a program is trying to run or get itself installed, and then ask you what you want to do.

New Look

Windows Vista has a new kind of look that is designed to look more appealing to the eye, and to help draw your attention to places on the screen that you need to be paying attention to. Folders and files are easier to find using built in search capabilities, and you can also have items on your screen known as “gadgets” to show you pieces of information that may be of interest to you such as weather reports, stock quotes, latest news headlines, etc.

Si Business Central and Si Mobile Sales Compatibility

Be assured that we are making every effort to ensure that our application that you have come to know and trust will be compatible with this new version of Windows. Windows Vista can be installed as a 32bit or 64bit operating system.  Often this is determined by your hardware specifications themselves.

Solid Innovation

Si Route Accounting 2007 has been tested and approved on the Windows Vista 32bit operating system only and is not currently supported on the 64bit version.  However, to ensure that your computer’s hardware, along with other programs you may be running, are compatible, we strongly recommend you install and run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor which can be downloaded for free from Microsoft at:           http://www.microsoft.com/vista

This tool will analyze all hardware and software you have in use on your computer and give you a full report about any compatibility issues it is able to find.

In Conclusion There are a number of new features in Windows Vista that will no doubt intrigue you as a business owner. Be sure to use the Vista Upgrade Advisor to ensure that your computers and software are compatible, and as always, make a full backup of your computer ’s data before attempting to perform any upgrade of Windows, or Business Central / Si Mobile Sales.
