The Wireless World
Wireless is the word and there's no doubt about it. Having just returned from the CTIA Wireless Trade show (www.CTIA.org) I saw a wonderful display of new products all aimed at the mobility sector. Product displays included the Apple iPad, Motorola cell phones, RIM’s latest Blackberry devices, Google Android devices, Palm, and even Samsung 3D televisions. Yes, the 3D televisions are really very cool. No 3D glasses necessary.
However, my real goal is to understand where mobility technology is going and how best to serve our distribution customers. And clearly there are some very appealing and significant moves.

Tip #1: What do you do with old inventory?
As product lines are updated or replaced with the latest and greatest, it is just a matter of time before your warehouse begins to fill with stock that has a certain life expectancy. Why not have a “Clearance Sale”? Solid Route Accounting™ can easily accommodate this for you. The Special Price List feature allows you to create unique lists of items and assign special prices to each item. You can even date stamp the list so that your special lasts only for a limited time. Offer these specials to one, many or all of your customers. Help increase your bottom line and clean up your warehouse of that aging inventory with Special Price Lists before your SKUs expire.
Tip #2: Are your routes working efficiently?
Answer this question with confidence using Solid Route Accounting™ - Enterprise Edition's Stop Analysis Report. The Stop Analysis Report was created to allow management the ability to create a basic or detailed stop report with sales analysis and summary. The report can be created based on one or more Customer Route Groups (CRG) or Cost Centers (CC). The Stop Analysis Report is generated by date and indicates the time of day, total sales, and gross margin for each stop. The report can be run for a specific date range, or run daily. This is an easy way to analyze which routes are laid out best and how much time is spent between stops.
Tip #3: Standing Orders Give Speed to Your Routes
Are your sales reps creating the same order over and over each time he/she visits a customer? If so, they should consider using Standing Orders. These unique transactions created on the mobile handheld can be used to stand as a "template" for future sales transactions. Standing Orders not only make your sales reps' life easier, it also accelerates their sales process, meaning they can allocate less time to creating invoices, and more time building relationships with your customers. And as an added perk, Standing Orders can also be used to view what a customer purchased the last time they were visited, as a sort of customer history.
