D & D Sales Brews Success with Solid

Alex Bolt, CEO of D & D Sales, distributed beer over Western Newfoundland for over 20 years using hand-written invoices. Alex noticed the number of hours spent on fixing mathematical mistakes and lengthy administration procedures. As Alex continued without a computerized system, he also found it increasingly more difficult to know where his inventory was. In the back of Alex’s mind, he knew an automated system would gain him valuable time. Watch D & D Sales' Testimonial Video... or Read Case Study...

What is the Biggest Problem Facing Your Business?

5 Benefits of Counting Your Inventory

Let's face it, inventory is money waiting to be sold to customers, yet all too often it seems to disappear at your expense. Handwriting is a Thing of the Past - Literally

When typewriters were first introduced in the 1930s, an editorial in the New York Times stated that the new machine replaced the art of handwriting with one's own hand. Yet, typewriters became mainstream in homes and offices all around the world. Producing tangible literature with speed and ease quickly became a normality. From its conception, the typewriter paved the road for computers, printers and the unlimited exchange of information that we take for granted in today's route accounting industry. Tech Tips

Tip #1: How to Enhance Customer Interactions

Often a route sales person doesn’t have much time to interact with a store owner, especially with the hectic atmosphere of delivering to a large store chain. The route sales person is busy. The store owner is busy. Everybody is busy. That doesn’t mean however that some simple courtesies of doing business have to go over looked. These niceties such as a, “Thank you for your business,” message, or any other information you’d like, can be easily added to any invoice printed from your Solid Route Accounting™ business system. For information on how to add or edit custom invoice messages, read Solid Know How Article #100: How to Print Messages on Invoices.

Tip #2: The One Thing You Should NEVER Do

Several times each year we emphasize to clients: NEVER remove the battery from a handheld computer. Things that run on power need to have a constant power supply. If that power supply is interrupted, such as when the battery is removed or runs completely out of power, the results can also be unpredictable. If a handheld computer is frozen or is otherwise in need of a reboot, every handheld computer has a ‘Reset’ button that should be used instead. For information on how to replace the batteries in the handheld computer, please read Solid Know How Article#219: How to Replace the Batteries in a Handheld Computer.

Tip #3: Customer Route Groups Boost Efficiency

Looking for a way to improve the efficiency of your sales? Many of Solid's clients have been known to complete customer stops up to twice as fast while increasing sales per route by 30-50% with Solid Route Accounting™. How? One contributing factor is using Customer Route Groups (CRG). CRG are not only a great way to increase efficiency, but can also help to keep a company’s data organized, while acting as a long term solution for faster customer searching on your handheld computers. For more information on how to implement Customer Route Groups, please read Solid Know How Article#86: What are Customer Route Groups (CRG) and how to Use, Create, and Assign Them.
